Glamour-style Christmas – surround yourself with the luxury you deserve!

Every home has a few (sometimes even a dozen!) boxes filled to the brim with Christmas ornaments. Still, every year we buy new ones because it's so hard to resist the beautiful Christmas balls, tinsel and other tchotchkes from the shop fronts. And though there's nothing wrong with buying new holiday decorations, you can easily refresh the look of the old ones so that they better reflect the newest trends. Let this winter and Christmas become a time of luxury and splendour, gold and silver, charm and elegance in the glamour style!

Christmas decorations can be elegant!

The year 2019 brought us many elegant interiors so it's very fitting to finish it with glamour-style Christmas that will be a perfect match for our home decors. When you think about ornaments, you might picture funny reindeers with red noses, a chubby Santa with a thick beard and rosy cheeks or giant stockings hanging by your window or fireplace. But what if this year you forget about the typical and conventional Christmas ideas and instead go for elegance with a capital E? See for yourself what we have in mind!

First and foremost, it's important to consider the motifs in your Christmas decorations. Glamour is all about luxury, style and refinement, which is why it doesn't really go well with funny, cartoon reindeers, elves and Santa (these designs can be used to decorate a child's room instead). We recommend posters, canvas prints and stickers, which can be used to decorate furniture in the living room or kitchen. They can depict winter landscapes, artistically drawn evergreen trees, gift boxes with giant bows, gold or silver stars or geometric snowflakes.

Once you have decided on the motif of your Christmas decorations you should consider their colour. Most of us associate Christmas with the green of Christmas trees and the red of Santa's clothes. This combination is sure great for an elf who's helping to pack presents. When it comes to interior design, it's better to opt for glamour-style Christmas with an elegant colour palette that's in line with this year's trends.

Winter glamour and Christmas filled with silver and gold

There are two groups of people: those who love gold and those who prefer silver. That's exactly why we've prepared many different arrangement ideas that should satisfy both camps.

Let's start with gold. During the Christmas time, this colour is often combined with red. If you like classic solutions, you can stick to this combination but we recommend using a more expressive, deep, elegant shade of red. If you need some inspiration, try Biking Red – a colour chosen by the Pantone Institute. Decorative cushions, a table runner or Christmas balls in this colour will be a guaranteed success. Alternatively, you can try something new and go for an intense shade of navy blue, which is particularly popular this year. Both classic gold and golden brass will look absolutely gorgeous next to this dark blue colour. Add to that a few sage-coloured accessories and your breathtaking interior design is ready.

Now let's turn to silver. What silver combination will be best for a Christmas winter glamour arrangement? All types of holiday decorations, including Christmas balls, tinsel, stars or candleholders will work wonders next to light shades of grey. You can create a decor that will imitate fresh, silvery sparkling snow in your room. If you're looking for charm, elegance and lightness, we recommend matching the silver with powder pink elements, which have also been very popular this year. Some great examples include glass balls with pink feathers inside, a poster with pink Christmas trees, wreaths that use this colour scheme, or even upholstered pink furniture if you already have some in your living room.

DIY Christmas decorations ideas

We've mentioned at the start of this article that you can refresh the look of your old Christmas decorations. Winter glamour is all about gold and silver, so you can easily repaint some of your old Christmas balls and other ornaments. It's a great idea to spend some time with children and really get into the Christmas spirit. You should have no problem finding metallic spray paint at your local store but our favourite idea is to coat Christmas balls with a layer of glue and cover them with glitter.

You can give the same treatment to any regular old figures of reindeer, angels or Santa. Use these repainted elements to create a wonderful composition and put it inside a lantern instead of a candle. You can also cut letters out of gold or silver decorative paper, arrange them into a "Ho, ho, ho!" or a "Merry Christmas" and create a garland for your wall.

Regardless of the idea you choose, you can complete the decor with a typographic poster saying "It's the most wonderful time of the year", which will be the perfect cherry on top of any Christmas interior!
